This semester I get to teach a group of second graders art once a week! We are going to have an art show at the end of the semester, and the kids are very excited! They have been writing their own stories in class, so for our first lesson, I taught them how to draw faces really well. We showed them some works by Brian Kershisnik, since he paints beautifully simple figures. The students warmed up by drawing each other, paying attention to details like hair and eye color. Then I showed them a really cool trick to drawing well-proportioned faces, and they were all so excited! They screamed and cheered when they saw the end result. They then got to practice drawing faces, and it was so cool to see their progress in such a short time!
